How do I add unit content to a lesson?

When using the Chalk unit planning tools, we aim to make it simple to add unit content (standards, resources, etc) into your lesson plans for quick and easy use. Once you've created your unit, you can add a course description, attach standards specific to that unit, and attach any resources you want to be using throughout that unit.

Note: You must have a unit assigned to your lesson to be able to import its content into your lessons. If your school is subscribed to Chalk's Curriculum Solution, you will be able to import content from curriculum maps attached to your subject.

Creating unit content

Step 1:

Once you have created your unit, navigate to it in the Unit Planner by clicking the Units button within your selected subject, as shown below:

Step 2:

Select a unit from the menu on the left, then click on the "Description" field to open the editing tools. From here you can insert any text content, images or links that are relevant to this unit.

Step 3:

You can use the Upload Files and Google Drive buttons under the "Description" field to add attachments to this unit, such as worksheets.

Step 4:

You can use the + Standards button to assign standards that are relevant to this particular unit. These standards will be easily accessible when attaching standards to lessons within this unit.

Adding unit content to a lesson

Step 1:

Within the lesson editor, click the Unit Content button. You will not be able to click this button if you don't have a unit assigned to your lesson.

Step 2:

Clicking that button will trigger a popup window with your resources that you have assigned for that unit. You can choose to copy and paste the content from the "Description" field of your unit into your lesson. We’ve made it easier for you to add the content to top or bottom of a lesson, or add it to your cursor.

Step 3:

You can quickly add any attachments assigned to this unit by clicking on the name of the attachment or the download button on the right

Step 4:

You can also quickly access standards assigned to the unit by clicking on the Standards button in the lesson editor like you would for any other standards. Lessons with a unit assigned to them will have unit level standards listed first. Like so:
