I have a teacher account instead of a student or guardian account. What do I do?

Please note: Chalk Student and Guardian Accounts are only available for schools subscribed to Chalk.

If you try logging in to a student or guardian Chalk account before it has been created by your school, you may find yourself accidentally creating a free teacher account. Don't worry--you can change the teacher account into the proper account type by following the steps in this article.

Step 1:

When you log into a new teacher account, you will find yourself in the setup process shown here:

You will need to log out of your account before you can continue, which you can do by either clicking this link or logging out from your profile in the top-right corner.

Step 2:

Click on the link in the invitation email sent by your school. This will convert your teacher account into a student or guardian account, depending on which you receive the invitation email for.

If you did not receive an invitation email, please follow the instructions in this article.

Step 3:

Your account should now be converted into a student or guardian account. You will see either "Student Access" or "Guardian Access", and will be prompted to enter your access code and complete setting up your account.

Note: If clicking the link in your email takes you back to the teacher account, it means you may have not logged out of your account. Please repeat step one and try again.

Teacher accounts cannot log in to the MyChalk app. If your account is mistakingly a teacher account, you will receive the error message "Your account is not permitted to use this app". Please follow the steps under the web instructions to change your account into the correct type.
